Strangely the rainbow was only just visible to the eye, and as I was afraid it would quickly go away I grabbed the closest camera - which was the DMC-LC5 Panasonic with the f2.0 Summicron lens - and found that I could easily see the rainbow on the display. I had left on the polarizing lens and this captured the rainbow.
