Perhaps each house has a different color scheme and he doesn't like to repeat.
Or....he had to match the adjacent blue door leading to a private garden owned by an exclusive enclave of townhouses. His neighbors include/ have included Aristotle Onassis, I.M.Pei (the architect), the Secretary General of the UN (double townhouse), John Whitehouse of Goldman Sachs, and a select few whose names I do not know.
I live in an interesting neighborhood. :)
