CANON EOS 5D MARK II with ZEISS DISTAGON F1.4 35MM Sample Photo 511473 By philber

Photo: 511473

Notes

100% crop of a full frame shot. Ambiant light, wide open, handheld, 1/13 second. This shows the tremendous performance of the lens IMHO.

Nice rendering by the 35mm and nice composition.

Looks good. Yes, 21 Megapixels is very useful and is a big step up from the original 5D. Hand on heart, I shoot most of my images off a tripod as 3 or 5 frames so that I have the option of using a Single Frame or a Tone Mapped version. My interests are mostly architecture and landscape and as I print many of my images, I am looking for maximum sharpness right out into the corners of an image and you cannot get this at f/1.4. from pretty much any lens (they all tend to do a decent job wide open, but only in the centre of the field). I guess this lens is more important for reportage where poor light is the order of the day and one is only looking for decent sharpness dead centre field. Horses for courses? Steve
