Yes, that is exactly was the story with us.... The weather was outstanding in all of the places (Zion, Bryce, Grand, Vegas, Twin Falls) where we went, but 6" of snow in our return trip in mountains....
Actually I lost a few lbs.... but was worth each step what I did there.
I used Nikon lenses also, so I might have less than you to post here.
Hope you enjoyed the trip Joe, we had a great time although it was a bit of a workout at 8000ft+ carrying a backpack full of Zeiss glass and accessories along with the occasional tripod. Post some more from your trip when you have time!
