Some history for the Queensborough Bridge built 126 years ago. It is also known as the "59th Street Bridge" of Simon & Garfunkel fame. (They lived a few blocks away from me in Queens). Have always photographed the bridge span, but thought the base should get some accolades as well!

This bridge is only 1 short block from my home. It is 126 years old, a virtual workhorse, as it is the only free bridge across the river. The others all have expensive tolls. Remember as a child my family always took this one adding a little more time to our journey because money was tight. Fond memories!
